Darlaston will, attempt for the fifth time tomorrow night to go to Stourport Swifts for another hugely important game.

Darlaston’s busy end to the season, continues tomorrow evening with their third game in five days when they are due to travel to Stourport Swifts, for the fifth attempt to play this fixture this season after the previous four were postponed.

Since the clubs met on Saturday at the Paycare Stadium Darlaston beat AFC, Wulfrunians, yesterday 4-0 at the Prestige Midlands Arena, where as Stourport Swifts big local derby at Bewdley Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, therefore Swifts will go tomorrow night’s fixture with two days extra rest over Darlaston’s squad.

Anyone thinking that tomorrow evening game will be the same as Saturday will sadly be mistaken, Stourport have an impressive home record at their Walshes Meadow home. So far this season they have won 12 of their 16 home fixtures losing once to Atherstone Town the remaining three games have been drawn.

Darlaston meanwhile, on the road have worn four, drawn six and lost five fixtures, scoring and conceding the same number of goals, the fact that Stourport have had an additional two days rest and playing their second game in five days should give then a big advantage over Darlaston, whose tired stiff legs after playing yesterday will make Darlaston’s task even harder when they are playing the team with the third best home record in the league.

Darlaston are clearly in good form with back to back 4-0 wins, but those two wins or although really important are now history, Manager, Dean, Gill and his management team together with players will clearly be looking to the next fixture, desperately trying to continue their performance level in the hope that they are able to qualify for the end of the season, play-offs for promotion

At the time of writing this article, there has been no announcement from the FA Leagues Committee or the Midland Football League regarding an extension to the season due to the postponements over the weekend and yesterday some clubs have now gone past the saturation point for fitting fixtures in before Saturday 13th April which is currently the last day for the league season for teams involved or trying to fill the play-off places. Fortunately, so far Darlaston have played all of their scheduled fixtures, but one more postponement will put Darlaston in that category.

Stourport have confirmed this morning the pitch is currently fine, but that may alter given the forecast in the next 24 hours with rain forecast this evening and tomorrow morning. We will of course keep you updated.
