The FA's decision to create end of season play off's has meant many teams have something to play for up to the final game of the season

Darlaston Town go into the 36th and final game of the League season this Saturday away at Chelmsley Town still not knowing who they will face in the end of season play off semi-finals next Tuesday evening 3 May 2022.

Currently occupying 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions, Stapenhill, Darlaston and Ashby Ivanhoe depending on results could all swap positions. Second-placed Stapenhill who are assured a home play off semi-final on Tuesday travel to relegation threatened AFC Bridgnorth who need to win or draw to guarantee their Step 6 status. A loss for Bridgnorth could still see them finish in a relegation position.

Darlaston travel to Chelmsley Town who need a draw or a win to secure their Step 6 status and are sure to have one eye on the Coventry Copsewood and Bridgnorth games.

Dudley Town who have finished in fifth place irrespective of Saturday’s results, welcomes Ashby Ivanhoe to their Aspray Arena home. Ashby will be looking to win the game to put pressure on Darlaston, because if Darlaston lose or draw and Ashby win they will move up into third place thus ensuring a home tie next Tuesday evening. If Ashby draw or Darlaston and Ashby achieve the same result on Saturday then Darlaston can finish no lower than third and will definitely be at home on Tuesday evening.

So, the permutations of Saturday's results are as follows -

If Stapenhill win at AFC Bridgnorth they are guaranteed to finish League runners-up and will play Dudley Town at home on Tuesday evening.

If Stapenhill draw or lose, and Darlaston win at Chelmsley Town Darlaston will finish the season as runners-up and will play Dudley Town at home on Tuesday evening.

If Stapenill and Darlaston both win, Darlaston will finish in third place and will play Ashby Ivanhoe at home on Tuesday evening.

If Darlaston lose or draw and Ashby Ivanhoe win at Dudley Town, Ashby will finish third and will play Darlaston at home on Tuesday evening.

Win, lose, or draw Dudley Town will remain in fifth place in the table and will be travelling to the league runners up for the first play off semi-final.

As you see there are many possibilities from the results of Saturday's game for all clubs involved in the three fixtures at both ends of the League table.
