Darlaston play their first game in this seasons J.W. Hunt Cup next Tuesday Evening, their first competitive game under lights at the Paycare Ground

Next Tuesday night 1st October 2019 Darlaston Town (1874) will play their first competitive match under lights at their Paycare Ground against Walsall Swifts in the first round of this seasons J.W. Hunt Cup.

This game is a prelude to the visit of EFL Division Two side Walsall who will be opening the lights officially on Tuesday 5th November when a Walsall XI will play Darlaston’s first team.

Walsall Swifts are a new team this season in the West Midlands (Regional) League playing in Division Two. They have had a mixed start to the season sitting in midtable in the Division

Kick off is 7.45 pm, entrance is £5 for adults, £3 concessions and children 10 and under are free.

The JW Hunt Cup Charity football competition was formed in 1926 to raise funds for the sole benefit of the local blind.

It is named in memory of John William Hunt, a local business man and benefactor. J.W. Hunt founded the local Chillington Tool Company and was a supporter of local charities.

The cup competition has been run every season since 1926/27 season raising over £350,000 for local causes.

201-19 was the 93rd season of the competition Sporting Khalsa were crowned winners after beating Highgate United 4-1 in the final held at Molineux. Following the final a donation of £10,000 was made to The Beacon Centre.
