Darlaston have been allocated a place in the Birmingham County Womans League

Last night Darlaston Town’s new ladies team attended the Birmingham County Womans League AGM to find that they have been allocated a place in Division One.

Last season the team were playing under the name of Gornal & Sedgley in Division One South of the West Midlands Regional Women's Football League finishing in third place behind champions Solihull United who were promoted into the Premier Division for this coming season and Kidderminster Harriers who remained in Division One.

In joining Darlaston, the ladies’ team have dropped two Division’s down the ladder and therefore should be one of the favourites for promotion at the end of the season. This will obviously depend on which players move over from last season’s squad to Darlaston.

The teams taking part in the Birmingham County Woman’s League are as follows (with last year’s Division against their name)

Alvechurch (Division One 8th place)
Balls to Cancer (Premier Division 8th place)
Birmingham Medics (Division One 5th place)
Bustleholme (Premier Division 4th place)
Castle Vale Town (Division One Champions)
Chelmsley Colts (Division One 9th place)
Coleshill Town
Coventrians (Premier Division 9th place)
Coventry Sp Ladies
Darlaston Town (1874)
Halas hawks (Premier Division 10th place)
Leamington Hibernian (Premier Division 11th place)
Nuneaton Town
Redditch Borough (Premier Division 3rd place)
Rubery Ladies Raven (Premier Division 7th place)
SJB Ladies (Division One 3rd place)
Southam Utd
Wednesfield (Premier Division 6th place)

Therefore, looking at last season’s tables it would appear there are 5 new teams joining the League for this coming season.

The ladies are well into their pre-season training sessions, twice weekly at Memorial Park Willenhall, on Sundays 1pm till 2.30 pm and Wednesday evenings 7.30 pm till 9 pm, any new players are welcome.at any session.

The teams first game in Darlaston colours will be at the end of this month on Sunday 28th June away against Nuneaton Town Ladies
