Yesterdays win continues Darlaston stay as League Leaders on goal difference

Third game of the season and the inform Darlo team take on the newly formed Rugby Borough ladies who have had a mixed set of results so far,

Darlaston missing two key midfielders, had to re jig the starting line up so we could keep up our winning ways.

The home side started well and were looking confident and within 10 minutes the deadlock was broken when Drew Harris on the right side found Lauri Alexander, who slotted the ball home from close range, Darlaston had numerous chances but Rugby’s keeper made some great saves and in one case striker Sarah Lojko with a one on one with the keeper passes the ball past her, only to see it hit the post and roll across the box, Lojko being first to react got to the loose ball only to see the ball rebound off the other post. Rugby played some nice touches and were unlucky not to score with a couple of shots going close but just off target.

Half time 1- 0

Second half the were encouraged by the management to carry on just as before with more urgency and within two mins of the start, a through ball by Sara Carter found Alexander to make it two.

Rugby with some nice interplay and from 25 yards out fired a shot that was looking like a goal all the way but Darlos keeper, Kelly the cat Walker made an outstanding save to keep another clean sheet.

Goal three came from Girl of the game Chelsea Fellows as a stand in midfielder drove a low shot into the bottom corner. Speedy wingback Dionne Mckee had made several runs forward but this time finding Alexandra who again scores another hat trick for the Darlaston crew.

Lojko who had several chances to score now scored two in five minutes with through balls by Alexander and Fellows. The home side defence needs a mention as the centre backs haven’t played together before and the impressive save by Walker making a good days work for the home side.

Next week Darlaston travel to Southam United
