Darlaston run out 2-1 winners against friends Coton Green on their return to The Paycare Ground

In their final home pre-season game Darlaston Town entertained Tamworth based Midland League Coton Green and emerged with a 2-1 win in an entertaining game.

Darlaston made a good start and opened the scoring on 10 minutes. Ryan Jones superbly flighted free kick was met by Connor Fellows whose 10 yard header hit the post and rebounded to Liam Smith whose 12 yard shot was blocked on the line, Smith followed up to smash home the rebound for his second goal in two games.

Morgan Campbell had two efforts blocked as Darlaston turned up the pressure with some neat controlled passing football forcing four corners in the opening 25 minutes all coming to nothing.

Former Darlaston midfielder Ash Francis impressed for the visitors as did forwards Romano Graham and Sam McDonald without creating much of a goal threat.

Darlaston doubled their lead on 39 minutes with a goal of sublime quality. A superb passing move involving TJ Davies, Leon Taylor and Luke Charlton saw Charlton set up Zico Agyemang, the striker unleashed a powerful 15-yard angled drive across the keeper high into the roof of the net for his first goal for the club.

Whilst Darlaston had the better of the opening 45 minutes, the visitors made much the better start to the second half with Sam McDonald, Kyle Bache, Marlon Iotu and Tom Lapworth all having attempts at goal without troubling keeper Liam Whittaker.

Darlaston's substitutions upset their rhythm the visitors taking full advantage playing some neat controlled incisive football as they looked to edge their way back into the game.

Ash Francis had a shot blocked and James Bloore shot wide, Darlaston responded with teenager Joe Baker shooting inches wide and Scott Glasby shooting high over the bar.

Seven minutes from time Romano Graham's efforts were rewarded with a superb strike angled across keeper Whittaker from 15 yards to reduce the arrears.
