Darlaston were thumped 6-0 at the Paycare Ground this afternoon, totally dominated by an outstanding Shifnal Town side

Darlaston Town (1874) turned up at their Paycare Ground today hoping to celebrate their return to the Premier Division, but instead for a good as they were at Pershore last week, today they were awful. They now know the level and standard required to be successful in this Division as they were thrashed by a Shifnal Team that schooled the newly promoted side, Shifnal were outstanding, they took advantage of the time and space Darlaston gifted them, to a man they worked hard all afternoon, where as their hosts costed through the game and were punished losing 6-0.

Managed Andy Parkes made two changes to last weeks starting line-up, Connor Fellows and Aiden Blackham dropping to the bench, to be replaced by the returning Liam Smith and Like Charlton.

Darlaston’s afternoon could not have started more badly, 3 minutes in Shifnal were awarded a penalty after Kyle Montague was floored by Darlaston’s left-back Ryan Jones. Tom Hill dispatching the spot kick with ease to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Shifnal knocked the ball around with ease for the whole 90 minutes never getting out of first gear, leaving Darlaston to chase shadows, the home side looked lethargic and totally off the pace.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 14th minute, Kyle Montague nipping in between central defender Liam Smith and keeper Whitaker to double Shifnal’s lead Darlaston. Things got worse for Darlaston, T.J. Davies was forced off with a Hamstring strain in the 21st minute, Davies was replaced by Tyrone Clarke O’Connell.

Shifnal added a third just before the half-time interval, Tom Hill was in acres of space at the far post to head home a Jordan Uppal cross sending the visitors into the half time interval three goals to the good.

Darlaston desperately needed one of Manager Parkes inspirational half-time team talks. It didn’t work, 5 minutes into the second half in the 50th minute Montague scored the visitors fourth, once again at the far post, after the yet another cross from Shifnal’s right hand side.

Both sides made several changes, Shifnal’s performance and energy levels didn’t change, Darlaston’s substitutes despite trying could by drag the levels of their teammates anywhere near the levels required.

Kyle Montague completed his hat trick in the 77 minute, Uppal took advantage of the huge amount of space he had, cut inside, his was blocked, after the ball ricochet around the home sides 6 yard box, it could not have fell better for Montague, who lashed the ball passed the hapless Whittaker. Montague was substituted shortly after and left the pitch to a resounding a round of applause by the Shifnal supporters in the Paycare Ground.

Man of the Match Uppal rounded off his outstanding performance with Shifnal sixth in the 90th minute. Once again Darlaston’s defence disappeared allowing him to run a good 40 yards unchallenged to smack the ball past Whittaker

Shortly afterwards Referee Ellis blew for time, putting Darlaston’s supporters out of their misery. The AC/DC management team of Shifnal Town must have been happy with their side’s faultless performance, to a man they were outstanding working hard for each other, they must be in with a real shout of promotion at the end of the season.

For as good as Darlaston were at Pershore last week, they were at the opposite end of the scale this afternoon. Manager Parkes will have to pick his men up during the week as next Saturday they travel to The Beeches in Tividale to take on Smethwick the match kicking off at 3 pm
