2. Notes of Public Meeting regarding the future of Darlaston Town (1874) FC held at Darlaston All Active Club ( DAA) on 9 October 2013

Following the meeting on 4 September an update meeting was promised and tonight’s meeting fulfilled that promise. Progress was reported as follows:

1. Following the vote at the 4 September meeting the overwhelming view was that the club should be called Darlaston Town (1874) Football Club. We will therefore be playing as Darlaston Town (1874).

2. We have registered this name as an Associate Member with Birmingham County FA for 2013/14 (on the basis that we cannot call ourselves as a Football Club without registering with the FA).

3. We wrote to the 46 Football League clubs (including 14 current Premier Division clubs) for whom a Darlaston player has also played. So far the response has been disappointing. We have received 9 replies, 5 of which have been positive. Walsall FC were first to reply and sent us a signed matchball.
Four premier Division clubs have replied, West Bromwich Albion are the only Premier Division club with a yes response and they sent us a limited edition pennant with a certificate of authenticity. Notst County FC have also sent us a signed matchball and Barnsley Football Club and Northampton Town FC have sent us 2 matchday tickets.

4. We have written to 184 potential business sponsors/advertisers in the Darlaston and surrounding area. Response so far has been slow.

5. We have not yet had any businesses sign up to our Individual and Business membership and Sponsorship scheme but several individuals have made one off donations or agreed to make monthly contributions. More than £2000 has been donated or promised in the first year. An anonymous "lifelong Bilston Town fan" has donated £50.

6. Four businesses have expressed an interest in sponsoring the club - discussions are ongoing.

7. The Chairman and Keith Chambers and Rose Burley met with Councillor Adrian Andrew the Deputy Council Leader and Head of Regeneration at Walsall Council. The meeting was amicable and we explained our position. Councillor Andrew is fully aware of our position as a club and that we have no connection with the "old regime". He expressed "support" of our intentions without being in a position to say what that support will look like. We will remain in touch with him and the Council.

8. The 16 strong committee have met twice and developed and agreed a 5 Year Development Plan. Paul Foster gave a brief presentation of the plan. Paper copies are available for people to view at the break or following the meeting.

9. We have registered with Companies House as a Community Interest Company (C.I.C) Limited by Guarantee and our legal title is "Darlaston Town (1874) Football Club C.I.C".  Lesley Shorthouse from Walsall Voluntary Action group attended the meeting and described and answered questions on C.I.Cs. In short our "objects" ensure we are a community based and community led club and that all assets are available for use by the community. Paper copies of the Memorandum and Articles of Association were available to read during interval or following meeting.

10.  We already have 5 fundraising events organised as follows - 18 October 2013 - Hawkins Sports and Social Club in Cheslyn Hay are holding a Quiz to raise funds, 15 November 2013 - Beer & Skittles Night at Old Hall Peoples Partnership Bentley , 2 March 2014 - Football match v Walsall FC legends.  On 30 November 2013 a supporter will run a half marathon from Stourbridge FC and finish on the pitch at Walsall FC before the home game against Port Vale. We have also set up a 100+ club to raise funds. Everyone was encouraged to support one or more of these events.

11. Other fundraising events in the pipeline for the next 6-9 months include Tribute Nights, Race Night, Sportsman's Evening, a sports memorabilia auction and a supporter has agreed to sponsor a Jazz Dinner.

12. A supporter  who wishes to remain anonymous has donated a signed limited edition David Shepherd print titled "Glory Days" valued at £140 - £160". A signed photograph of Peter Bonetti has also been donated.

13. Friends of Darlaston Town Hall have agreed to support us with a fundraising event.

14. Website is in development - we will publish 5 Year Plan, Memorandum and Articles of Association, Minutes of meetings, updates and other information on the website when it is developed.
At the end of the meeting we held a raffle which raised £72, the Walsall Matchball , Peter Bonetti photograph and Albion pennant were auctioned and raised £30, £40 and £40 respectively.
