"Second placed Newport left with all 3 points following their first ever visit to The Paycare Ground sending Darlaston to their second consecutive defeat.

The visitors made a bright start and Robbie Millington brought a fine finger tip save from keeper Aaron Morris with his 20 yard drive destined for the bottom corner. The home side responded and a left wing cross from Sam Giles was headed over by Sam Melia.

Morris was again in action in the 16th minute when he pulled off a brilliant save from a Justin Brown close range effort, clawing the ball away following a goal mouth scramble.the visitors took a deserved lead in the 35th minute when Millington beat two defenders to set up Liam Bould for his 12th league goal of the season when his 15 yard angled shot beat Morris into the bottom right hand corner.

Two minutes later Darlaston had a strong penalty appeal turned down when from a corner Mark Swann was pushed over from behind but much to the amazement of players and supporters alike the referee waived play on. The pace of the Division's top scorer Shane Thomas was causing the home defence plenty of problems whilst Melia and debutant Boyce Taylor created two good chances for the home side.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 42nd minute with a carbon copy of their first goal as Millington beat two defenders to set up Nick Porter to net from 12 yards.

Darlaston opened the 2nd half with purpose and could have reduced the arrears on 49 minutes when Melia was denied by the outstretched leg of keeper Josh Dudley whilst in the 55th minute Boyce Taylor just failed to connect cleanly with a superb 35 yard pass by Craig Ball.

The visitors were always dangerous and played some excellent football and in Bould and Thomas they always posed a goal threat whilst Robinson and Brasenell were solid at the heart of their defence.

Darlaston's hearts were broken in the 63rd minute with a bizarre refereeing decision. As Luke Charlton was ushering the ball from play under pressure from Millington the Newport player caught the back of the heel of the defender and as both players fell to the ground the referee , much to the dismay of the home supporters pointed to the penalty spot. Brasenell made no mistake from the spot.

The home side responded superbly and gave themselves a glimmer of hope in the 76th minute when substitute Kieran Miller netted his first goal for the club slotting home from 10 yards.

Darlaston's misery was complete in the 85th minute. Keeper Morris and Millington both fell to the ground and as the ball was played up field and Darlaston pushed out, Millington kicked keeper Morris who retaliated. The referee did not penalise Milington for the original offence and sent off Morris awarding a penalty in the process. Brasenell easily converted his second penalty of the game.

This Saturday Darlaston are again in league action as they entertain Oswestry based St Martins FC at The Paycare Ground , Bentley Leisure Pavilion, Bentley Road North, Bentley WS2 0EA. Kick Off 2.00pm
