Darlaston's unbeaten run continues with a second consecutive clean sheet

Darlaston extended their unbeaten start to the season to 7 games, moving up to third spot with an emphatic win at Tipton Sports Academy.

Boss Andy Parkes was forced into making four changes from the side that beat Wyrley , keeper Aaron Morris, James Filkins and Hayden Hughes all unavailable, Ant follows (injured) whilst Lucas Hough was serving the last game of his 3 match suspension. New signing Ricardo Ricketts and keeper Jay Handley both made their debut, Seweryn Brzostowski and Ricky Kelly were recalled to the starting line-up whilst Sam Baxter and Steve Mason both made their first appearance of the season from the substitutes bench.

Despite the changes Darlaston made a bright start and were in front as early as the 5th minute. A Jay Handley clearance was pounced upon by Tyrone Clarke O'Connell who burst clear of the home defence to slot home beyond keeper Rikki Danton.

On 12 minutes Sam Giles beat two defenders to send in a right-wing cross which found Scott Broadway on the edge of the box the young striker swivelled to send in a rasping volley which rattled the cross bar before rebounding to safety. Darlaston were dominant restricting Bustleholme's Neil Oakley and Leon Brown to long range efforts both of which were off target.

In the absence of Hayden Hughes the Scott Broadway Tyrone Clarke O'Connell strike partnership was causing havoc in the Bustleholme defence the pair quickly striking up an excellent understanding creating several half chances. Former Darlaston player Danny Bell had to leave the field with an injury on 29 minutes following an innocuous challenge by Kelly.

Darlaston's continued efforts on goal were rewarded in the 35th minute with a superbly worked goal. Sam Giles and Clarke O'Connell exchanged passes, Clarke O'Connell the provider beating his defender before cheekily sending in a rabona cross from near the touchline which was met by Broadway who powerfully headed home from 16 yards. The goal gave the visitors a two-goal lead for the sixth time in consecutive league games.

Ryan McAllister, Zuki Stanton and Luke Charlton were superb at the heart of the Darlaston defence shackling the Division's top scorer Chris Brown and restricting the home side to long range efforts which failed to trouble Handley in the Darlaston goal.

In the 56th minute the every improving Broadway, Clarke O'Connell partnership once again proved fruitful, this time Broadway with the assist. Broadway cut in from the right made his way across the penalty area before laying the ball off to the oncoming Clarke O'Connell who lashed a vicious 18 yard shot past the stranded keeper Danton rooted to his goal line.

Broadway's power and strength was evident as time after time he out muscled the home defence eventually leading to a 65th minute caution following a robust challenge on keeper Danton. The striker took his revenge two minutes later when he chased down an attempted clearance by Danton, the ball rebounding from his challenge into the net to send him to the top of the Division's scoring charts with his 9th goal in six games.

Whilst Michael Miller had long range efforts for the home side, the goal knocked the stuffing out of Bustlehome and Darlaston missed opportunities to extend their lead, mason shooting wide after some excellent approach work, Baxter having his 20-yard shot blocked and Broadway shooting wide from 12 yards.

With two consecutive four goal victories Darlaston now stand third in the League table and this Saturday are at home when they entertain former Premier Division side Gornal Athletic who themselves had an impressive 6-2 win their last game. the game is at The Paycare Ground, Bentley Leisure Pavilion, Bentley Road North, Bentley WS2 0EA kick off 3.00pm
