Darlaston will return to league action tomorrow at the Paycare Stadium, when they welcome Wolverhampton Casuals for the first of two big local derby's within four days for a Midland Football League Premier Division fixture, the clubs first competitive game for three weeks.
Both clubs have already met twice this season, the first game at The Paycare Stadium in the Moldwel Products League Cup, Wolverhampton Casuals winning 3-1 and shortly afterwards the clubs met in a league fixture resulting in a 2-2 draw where two minutes of madness in the second half cost Darlaston dearly after Aaron Bishop and Ben Podmore had given them a 2-0 lead.
Cassies recent form has been excellent winning four of their last six league games allowing to climb the table to occupy 12th place, whereas Darlaston, have won three of their last six games with a single loss and two draws. Like Darlaston Wolverhampton Casuals have only played two league games in the last six weeks due to various cup games including the Isuzu FA Vase but postponements have not helped.
Cassies last two league fixtures were wins, 2-1 at home to Shifnal Town Kamren Smith and Darlaston’s new signing Thomas Cottam scoring the goals and their last league fixture last Saturday at Dudley Town at the Guardian Warehousing Arena produced a 2-1 win, the two Smith’s Colin & Kamren both on the score sheet with second half goals. Dudley Town pulled one back late in extra time from the penalty spot from Harry Crook.
Wolverhampton Casuals scoring charts are led by Kamren Smith with six goals along with Benni Wilson and Colin Smith is not far behind with five.
Tomorrow is the first of five big games for Dean Gill’s squad and as always in this league this season all clubs are capable of winning games and therefore tomorrow’s fixture will once again be very difficult.
Darlaston meanwhile have been bolstered by new signings, the addition of Cassies top score Thomas Cottam from Wolverhampton Casuals will bolster Darlaston’s forward line along with the permanent return of Kieran Miller who is suspended for tomorrow’s game. Even though Darlaston have not had a competitive game for three weeks, the squad have been training on a regular basis, but of course there is no substitute for competitive football.
As usual the Paycare Stadium and bar will open at 1.00 p.m., the bar serving its usual choice of hot and cold food.
Admission - £7.00 Adults, £5.00 Concessions, Children under 10 FREE
Programmes - £2.00 – available from the pay hut.
We hope to see as many Darlaston supporters as possible for tomorrow’s game.
