Darlaston Town will tomorrow evening travel to Lichfield City for their second consecutive second Midland Football Premier Division fixture Who began the season impressively with a 2-0 win over, some may argue, promotion favourites Congelton Town.

Darlaston and Lichfield met three times last season, twice in the league with Darlaston winning both games, 4-2 at The Paycare Stadium and 1-0 in the last month of the season. The third game ended in a 4-0 win for Lichfield at the Paycare Stadium in the JW Hunt Cup handing, in fact Lichfield went on to win the JW Hunt Cup last season beating Tividale 1-0 in the final, played at Molineux at the end of May, Joe Haynes scoring the goal.

Lichfield’s highly respected manager Ivor Green and his management team have been quite astute in the summer adding to their already talented squad the services of Dan Smith from Tividale who will always score goals. Dave Ablewhite from Stone Old Alleyians and more recently Jordan Clement who has previously played for Redditch United and Tamworth. Green also has available this season Jono Gould the ex-Coventry City player who played under Green when at Atherstone Town. He missed last season due to a serious injury.

On the season’s opening day Lichfield narrowly lost their Extra Preliminary Emirates FA Cup tie to Northern Premier League Midlands Division side Boldmere St. Michaels 3-2, Jack Edwards scoring twice.

Last Saturday Lichfield opened their league account with a 2-0 home win against Congleton Town, goals from Dan Smith and Jack Edwards, scoring his third of the season, a really good result as some people regard Congleton as favourites for promotion.

Darlaston meanwhile, after their 1-1 draw at Uttoxeter Town on Saturday trained well last night preparing for Wednesday’s fixture and there have been no new major injury concerns reported following Saturday’s game.

Manager Dean Gill will select from a full squad with the exception of injury victim Reece Mason and everyone will of course want to secure their opening league win of the season tomorrow evening.

Darlaston Town against Lichfield City games are always a football spectacle as both sides like to play football in the right way, the games exciting and a large crowd is expected at Lichfield’s Tyre Trade Community Stadium tomorrow evening.

The club have been advised that admission will be:
Adults £7.00, Concessions £5.00
