Tomorrow evening Darlaston, take a break from League action when they welcome Midland Football League Division, Three side Feckenham to the Paycare Stadium for a rearranged Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup first round fixture.
Feckenham are well placed within Division Three of the MFL currently occupying second position and on a 13 game unbeaten league and cup run, six points behind league leaders AFC Solihull with a game in hand. Feckenham have a big advantage over their promotion rivals after some really big wins this season which includes a 12-1 away win against Birmingham Tigers at the end of November.
Feckenham’s away form has been very good this season in their eleven away games so far they’ve won seven drawn three lost one scored 41 goals and just conceded ten.
In their last four fixtures, the first Saturday of the New Year Feckenham beat Wake Green Amateurs 4-0 at home William Skelton, scoring a brace with Lucas Cook and Josh Brown also on the scoresheet. A trip to mid table Gornal followed, it was a good trip home after a 3-1 win, Ashley Bunn, Ben Cox and William Skelton were the scorers.
A big game at AFC Birmingham on the last Saturday in January produced a 2-2 draw, Josh Bowen and Jack Neal scoring the all important goals. Last Saturday Feckenham produced another big away win 7-0 at Balsall/Berkswell, William Skelton scoring a hat-trick with goals from Josh Brown, Ben Cox, David Phelan and Alistair Wright
Feckenham are certainly not goal shy 80 goals in 21 games so far this season, William Skelton is currently leading the scoring charts with 22 goals in 18 starts, Josh Brown 15 in 20 starts and the remaining 43 goals have been shared around the squad.
Darlaston meanwhile are coming off the back of a postponement on Saturday at Stone Old Alleynians and a difficult game at Bewdley a week ago today, getting Saturday off has allowed some of Darlaston’s squad extra time to get over the knocks and injuries picked dup on the heavy pitch at Bewdley. Manager Dean Gill is likely to give some of his new signings a start, so there could be some new faces on display tomorrow evening.
