Tomorrow evening is another big night for everyone connected with Darlaston Town when the club welcomes Premier League side, Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Paycare Stadium for a Third Round, Birmingham Senior Challenge Cup tie.

If anyone had said back in pre-season in July that this season Darlaston would appear live on BBC television for an Emirates FA Cup tie, draw and beat West Bromwich Albion and then play most fans and certain players and Management favourite team Wolverhampton Wanderers at home no one would have believed them. It’s outstanding reward for all the hard work everybody puts in at the club both on and off the field.

In the competition this season Darlaston started with a First Round trip to Rugby Borough where after 7 minutes they were 2-0 behind. Dean Gill’s side, then went on the rampage winning the game 10-3. The Second Round draw saw Darlaston play West Bromwich Albion at the Paycare Stadium in November.

Darlaston Town were winning 2-0 at half time, in the opening 19 minutes West Brom scored four unanswered goals, putting them 4-2. Darlaston’s never say die attitude saw them draw level in injury time from the penalty spot, James Rowland levelled the scores with seconds to go. After losing penalty shoot outs in the Emirates FA Cup, Isuzu FA Vase and JW Hunt Cup Darlaston were overjoyed to win 5-4 substitute keeper Tom Allsopp making some fine saves. Tom Hurdman dispatched the winning penalty to win the tie and setup tomorrow nights match.

Wolverhampton Wanderers received a bye in the First Round of the Birmingham Senior Challenge Cup, in the Second Round, they travelled to fellow Midland Football League Premier Division side AFC Wulfrunians wining 3-1 to set up tomorrow evenings tie
