Tomorrow evening at the Paycare Stadium Darlaston Town will welcome for the first time EFL Championship side West Bromwich Albion for a Second Round Birmingham Senior Challenge Cup tie.

This is the first time the clubs have met since Darlaston reformed, however, many Darlaston supporters will remember a Birmingham Senior Cup tie played at the City Ground in November 1996 when Alan Buckley was West Bromwich Albion’s manager. The Albion fielded a strong side with several first-teamers, Albion ran out easy winners 8-0 but England under-21 Lee Ashcroft stole the show with four second-half goals.

In the first round of this seasons competition Darlaston travelled to United Counties League Premier South Division side Rugby Borough easily beating opponents 10-3 after going two goals down in the opening 7 minutes, two goals from Aaron Bishop, Charlie Manners, Louis Baker along with goals from Jake Pearson, Tom Turton, Ben Podmore and Louis Gill and put Darlaston in the hat for the second round where they drew one of the plum home-ties against West Bromwich Albion.

A large crowd is expected at the Paycare Stadium tomorrow evening and we would ask everyone, to ease congestion, to come as early as possible. There is free parking available on site, please be as early as possible.
If however there is a need to park on local roads, please respect the local residents including not blocking roads or driveways.

Gates will open at 6.15 p.m. along with the bar which will be serving its usual pre-match food.

We would ask that everybody entering the ground to please be patient and listen out for instructions from the stewards.
