Darlaston Town tomorrow night, for the first time in many years play a First Round tie in the Walsall Senior Cup when Dean Gill squad travel to Keys Park the home of Hednesford Town.
The clubs have already met this season in the Emirates FA Cup in August at the Paycare Stadium, Darlaston won 3-0 with goals from Ben Priest, a Lewis Gill penalty and substitute Louis Baker made it three just before full time. But things since that game things have changed at Hednesford Town, when they parted company with their management team of Danny Glover and Dan Crane.
Within a few days Hednesford had appointed Harry Harris the promotion winning manager from Walsall Wood, Harris bought with him, his number two the experienced and well known figure in non-league football, Steve Hinks.
Since their appointment at the end of October, Harris & Hinks have brought several players to the club as they look to shape their Hednesford squad, today they have signed Jai Verma from Walsall Wood who last season scored 26 goals in 39 starts.
Presently Hednesford occupy bottom place of the Pitching In Northern Premier West Division in 15 games they have won one, draw five and lost nine games so far. But since the appointment of Harris and Hinks Hednesford drew against Stalybridge Celtic 1-1 at Keys Park in their first game in by another 1-1 draw at Avro. In the Birmingham Senior Challenge Hednesford travelled too and beat higher league Tamworth on penalties to progress into the Second Round draw. .
Last Saturday Hednesford lost to league leaders Prescott Cables 2-0 at Keys Park, but as time goes on the newly appointed duo are sure to turn Hednesford’s season around.
Darlaston, meanwhile, after producing a resolute gutsy performance against Northwich Victoria, after playing more than 65 minutes with 10 men which they will look to build on following a five weeks without any league games. Darlaston will be without the suspended Rryan Winwood who will serve the last game of his three match suspension for red card against Dudley Town.
