Despite going behind to two goals in the opening 7 minutes, Darlaston went in at half time 7-2 up

A rampant Darlaston Town tore up the record books storming to a 10-3 win at United Counties Premier League Rugby Borough in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

Darlaston boss Dean Gill made eight changes from the team that drew with Wolverhampton Casuals on Saturday, his charges recording their biggest win since re-forming in 2013, their biggest win for more than 50 years, their biggest Birmingham Senior Cup win in their history and their first ten goal haul in more than 50 years.

Unbelievably Darlaston were trailing 2-0 in the first 7 minutes, the impressive Tom Bishop with both goals for Borough. Jake Pearson, on his first start since April, pulled one back on 16 minutes, parity was not achieved until 24 minutes, Aaron Bishop with the equaliser.

For the next 66 minutes, Darlaston were rampant with five goals in 21 minutes before the half time break as they put the game out of reach. Tom Turton put the visitors ahead before Charlie Manners, Bishop, Ben Podmore and Louis Baker goals before half time made the long trip in horrible weather conditions worthwhile.

Darlaston were rampant in the second half creating chances galore. Charlie Manners netted his second goal to make it 8 on 54 minutes before birthday boy Leo Gill netted the ninth and Louis Baker adding his second goal to make it 10. In between times Adam Shaw netted Rugby' third goal.

Following the game boss Dean Gill reflected - " I suppose I am never satisfied. The goals we conceded were poor and we need to tighten up at the back, we are letting in too many goals for my liking. That said we were dominant going forward. I freshened it up tonight and have given myself a selection headache for Saturday. The energy and pace of Charlie Manners, Louis Baker, Tom Turton and Justice Campbell was a delight to watch and some of our finishing was sublime. On such a horrible night our travelling support was again superb, and I am delighted that we treated our supporters to ten goals
