Wolves Allstars charity match for local charity "Smile for Joel" at the Paycare Ground

By Simon Cox

SBBS Building & Scaffolding have organised a family day out NEXT SUNDAY 23rd March. Kick off 2 pm.

Darlaston Town 1874 are to host a Charity Game at their Paycare Ground a week on Sunday – 24th March 2019 for the local charity “Smile for Joel” – kick-off is at 2.00 p.m.

It is an opportunity for all Wolves fans to watch the Wolves All-Star Team take on SBBS. Builders Eleven. The organisers have billed it as a “Family Day Out” – the idea is to bring all your family and friends to the charity event.

Organisers SBBS Building & Scaffolding have managed to rope in some of their clients, who include the “Who’s Who” of local house building the likes of Persimmon, Bovis Homes, Taylor Wimpy, Redrow, St. Philips Homes along with Trad Scaffolding Contractors

Refreshments will be available together with a bar and disco after the game. “Smile for Joel” is a locally run well-worthwhile charity and one that is close to our hearts was a well-known local West Midlands Area Referee on the fast-track to greater things before his life was sadly taken during the June 2015 Tunisian Terror Attacks.

During the attack the family lost three very precious members and quite clearly will never be the same again. The family are still shattered and broken, and every day is a colossal struggle with not having them there with them. The family lost Joel, his grandfather Pat and his Uncle Ade in the horrendous attack. Joel’s brother Owen wanted to make a difference, so the “Smile for Joel” Charity was set up as a fundraising organisation to support and help shattered/broken families who are victims of traumatic bereavement. The Charity gives support directly to the families that are desperately in need through such difficult times.

The support is very diverse, including special counselling, help with purchases of gifts or that special gift to a family that shows someone cares.

Not every family has the love and support that we have had from our family and friends, but it still does not make things any easier.

So, everyone at Darlaston would urge the Local Community to support such a worthwhile Charity Event.
