Tomorrow sees the Clubs second Cup match of the week

Tomorrow sees Darlaston Town play their second Cup game of the week, a Second Round Birmingham County FA Vase game against Christ The King from Coventry who also play in the Premier Division of The Coventry Alliance, the same as our last rounds’ opponents A.E.I. Rugby.

Christ The King F.C. is a Club committed to developing quality football in a community environment formed in 1946 by the then Christ The King Church Committee. The Club celebrated its 70th Anniversary in the 2015/16 Season. No other Club in Coventry provides as many opportunities for children to play football or has such a strong record of developing them for selection by Local Academies.

The Club prides itself on a strong emphasis on developing talent and ensuring that football is enjoyed by as many people as possible, regardless of age or ability.

The Club currently runs three senior teams all playing within The Coventry Alliance six Divisions, more than 27 Junior teams of all ages having 400 plus players registered. A substantial Management Team of seventy-eight Volunteers are responsible for running the club and its teams.

In the last 10 years the first team has been the most successful in the club’s history winning The Alliance Premier League twice 2007/08, and 2010/11, Coventry Evening Telegraph Cup twice 2010 & 2012, Coventry Charity Cup twice 2010 & 2012.

They were beaten finalists in The Birmingham F.A. Vase Final in 2006/07 and reached the semi-final in 2011/12.

Last season saw Christ The King losing out on the Coventry Alliance Premier League title by a single point to our last rounds opponents A.E.I. Rugby after only dropping five points all season.

This season sees Christ The King lying in eighth place in the Premier Division of eleven teams, having played eleven games, securing of three wins, but losing seven games and a single draw, securing ten points and having a goal difference of minus eight.

As mentioned din the last round Coventry Alliances’ season started a week later than ourselves on 12th August 2017.

August was not a kind month to Christ The King, playing 5 League games securing a single win, 2-0 against Triumph Athletic in the first week, but the following weeks saw three losses and a draw.

September Christ The King played three League games, all ending in 4-1 results, a single win at home against Hawkesmill Sport and two losses against Folly Lane and A.E.I. Rugby F.C (whom we beat in the last round).
