Has the thaw started in time for this weekend Cup match

Following last night’s thaw, Club Secretary Gil Preece visited The Paycare Ground this morning to inspect all four pitches.

Gil’s Facebook post clearly puts the pitch condition’s into perspective, and I quote part of his post “Good morning from Darlaston Town pitch 1--2--3--4 still not fit for matches”.

But the pictures at the bottom of the article say more than the words, its quite clear the thaw has begun, patches of green are now visible. Now it depends on how well the ground copes with the huge amount of water the thaw will create.

At least the main pitch might stand a chance of some action quoting directly from Darlaston’s own roving reporter Nicola Waite “That verti draining pre-season might be worth its weight in gold if temperatures rise a little!”. Something Gil definitely agreed with.

Obviously pitch inspections will take place daily between mow and the weekend to try and ensure our Third Round Birmingham County F.A. Vase tie against Rugby Borough takes place and kicks off at 1.45 p.m.

All updates will be posted on the website and on Facebook and Twitter.
