Four goals from Leon Taylor including a first half hat-trick along with a hat-trick of assists from Alex Solomon goes a long way to securing the win

Darlaston welcomed Telford Juniors to the Paycare Ground for another West Midlands League Division One fixture.

After last Saturdays 2-0 against Old Wulfrunians, Darlaston’s management team were forced into changes. Isaac Cooper was unavailable, so Jamie Holder returned to the starting line-up from the bench, is place was taken by new signing Bekir Halil signed from Total Motion Midlands Premier side Westfields.

Darlaston started the game at quite a pace creating openings for Noah Diallo, Daniel Bolzon (three) and Tyrone Clarke-O’Connell all failed to score, and all this was just the opening 6 minutes.

The home side opened the scoring in the 11th minute, top scorer Leon Taylor found space behind Telford’s defence, a perfectly weighted Daniel Bolzon gave Taylor the perfect opportunity to score past Telford’s keeper Mitchell Delamere, who had already had a busy opening period.

Darlaston were dealt a blow when Tyrone Clarke-O’Connell had to be substituted in the 17th minute after suffering a muscle injury when he failed to convert a chance in the opening five minutes.

The league leaders nearly doubled the score in the 20th minute, when they cut through the visitor’s defence again, this time Noah Diallo’s effort somehow didn’t cross the line after hitting the inside of the post.

The lead was doubled in the 30th minute as, Taylor scored again, after Alex Solomon set him up big time, after Solomon stole the ball from a Telford defender just outside the box, again the pass to Taylor was perfect leaving him with an easy finish to double his and Darlaston’s score to 2-0.

Solomon was not finished there in the 36th minute, he made the most of a defensive error to square the ball for substitute Ashley Evans to produce the best finish of the day with a crisp left footed volley finish giving the hapless Delamere no chance from 10 yard, 3-0 to Darlaston.

Darlaston added a fourth on 41 minutes, Taylor again latching onto another Alex Solomon defence splitting pass to score a first half hat-trick and also to give his chief supplier in Solomon a hat-trick of assists.

What would the second half bring, would Darlaston’s management be happy with the first half performance that produced four quality goals, maybe not because of a large amount of chances the home side missed.

The second half promised more goals, but Darlaston could not convert their chances as they continued to create them with ease Diallo, Solomon, Holder, Glasby, Taylor all failed to increase Darlaston’s lead.

They finally scored in the 64th Leon Taylor scoring his fourth of the afternoon, after powering his way past three defenders and beating the keeper with ease.

As the half wore on Darlaston’s concentration fell away presenting the visitors wit two great chances, which they should have converted Cook and Wilson missing the target.
Darlaston conceded their first goal in three league games, the defence stood around like around like statues following a throw in, a cross from their right was met at the far post by Callum Wilson, his looping header gave Dan Elwell no chance.

Darlaston scored their sixth and final goal of the afternoon from the penalty spot, Noah Diallo converting in the 88th minute after Tom Poole handled a goal bound Leon Taylor shot, leaving Referee Paul Kiely no choice but to send Poole off.

Darlaston ran out 6-1 winners, should they have scored more hell yes, al lot more. Was the performance good, no it was distinctly below average. In say that they won, the unbeaten run continues now standing at 13 games and they maintain the 5-point gap over second placed Worcester Raiders who beat Wrens Nest 7-0.

Now the Parkes and Moore Management team can look towards and start to plan for next Saturday’s massive game at Worcester Raiders when top plays second. Darlaston need to win, it’s quite that simple.

Both sides are on seriously long unbeaten runs, Worcester have won every single game since they had a bad August Bank Holiday weekend, losing 2-1 to Gornal Athletic on the Saturday followed by an exciting 5-5 draw at Bromyard on Bank Holiday Monday.

Please come and support the lads, in what should be an outstanding game of football as both teams put everything on the line. Kick-off is 2 pm, Darlaston are traveling by coach, and there are still seats available.
