Darlaston's fourth Annual Presentation Evening was held at Bentley Leisure Pavilion

The evening was well attended by players supporters, and Committee Members, special guest was Paul Siviter Commercial Manager from the evening sponsors whom we would like to thank for their generous sponsorship of the evening. Paul was on hand to present the trophies to the winners.

Master of ceremonies Vice Chairman Garry Hale introduced first team manager Andy Parkes who thanked all the volunteers who help run the club and announced the following wards

Top Assists – Sam Giles

Top Goal Soccer – Scott Broadway

Young Player of the Year – Ryan Jones

Manager & Coaches Player of the Year – Luke Charlton

Committee Player of the Year – Martin Stanton

Supporters Player of the Year – Lucas Hough

Players Player of the Year – Luke Charlton

Manager Parkes handed the microphone back to Vice Chairman Gary Hale, who arguably presented the most import award of the evening to someone who has worked for and with the Club for more than 5 years, spending 1,000’s of hours taking and publishing photographs. Clubman of the Year was presented to the well deserving Jayne Cartwright.

I have only been at the Club for a short time, but I think it right that some official thank you’s should be made public. Firstly, we would like to thank all the sponsors and supporter’s, without you there would be no club. The next thank you need to go the Directors and Club Committee, both outstandingly led by Chairman Neil Chambers closely followed by an exceptional group of volunteers that work tirelessly behind the scenes to make this club such a wonderfully successful and friendly place to visit. Because I am sure I am bound to forget someone, if I try and name everyone so I hope a collective thank you will suffice.

Thanks, should go to the Football management and players. The manager and his team selfishly give up loads of time each week to try and ensure the players are best prepared for each game. Players at this club are also special, they give their time for free and the love of the club together with their teammates, playing at a level when some of them could play elsewhere and earn money.

Some people do need a special mention Mr Darlaston Gil Preece who as well as his secretarial duties also prepares, controls and nurtures one of the best playing surfaces in the area. Lastly a very personal thank you must go to Jayne Cartwright and Pete Burke who take thousands of photos during a season making my life so much easier. I know from my own experience it’s not just taking the photographs, it’s the hours afterwards cropping and publishing wash photo to make sure they are the best they can be.

So now the curtain closes on the 2017/18 everyone has their own thoughts on how successful it was. Now everyone can now start to look forward to the new season, players will be back in 2 weeks to start a punishing pre-season looking at the selection of pre-season games, it’s certainly going to test the players.

We hope you have a good summer and hope to see you in early July.
