The Club were informed earlier today of a second high profile departure to a Premier League Club

The Club were notified earlier today long serving player and last seasons “Supporters Player of the Year”, Lucas Hough has decided to leave the Club for pastures new.

Lucas has been an integral member of the playing staff since joining the club some four seasons ago, even though the Club are extremely saddened to lose such a popular gifted player, we would like to wish him the very best in his new challenge.

Lucas said “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Darlaston Town (1874), last season was possibly my best for the Club, and I thank Andy Parkes and his Management Team for restoring my confidence and enjoyment in the game. After receiving a few flattering offers from Clubs in the Premier Division, I thought that the time was right to test myself at a higher standard. I will miss everyone connected with the Club and would like to thank everyone for their support over the years.”

In speaking to Manager Parkes, he said “We are extremely saddened to lose a player of Lucas’s ability, players with such a sweet left foot and the ability to play in multiple positions are extremely hard to come by. In speaking to last season’s players recently we have asked that if they are thinking of moving on that they let us know as soon as possible so we know what players we are likely to need to recruit. To be honest I didn’t expect to lose Sam and Lucas, but given the season they both had I can understand why they want to test themselves at a higher level. Both players have left, not because they have fell out with the Management or the Club, they have left because someone has offered them something we cannot at the moment that is Premier Level football.”

This week sees the squad return to pre-season training, there will be new faces and Manager Parkes together with Shaun Bolton and Scott Moore have been working exceptionally hard behind the scenes to add and improve the squad for the new season, I guess time will tell how successful they have been, one thing is for sure it wont be for the want of effort as np stone has been left unturned.
